Upcoming events.Ok, this is what's coming up at Main Street. Friday, April 16th come KICK-ASS with Main Street Comics & Games. Join us for the late showing of KICK-ASS at Chaekers' Cinema 10. Gather at the shop at 9pm or simply join us there for the 9:45pm show. You will not regret it. Friday, April 23rd, same deal different movie. Join us for the late showing of The Losers. May or may not beat KICK-ASS but it DOES have Zoe Saldana.(Drum Line, Star Trek, Avatar) So...yeah Thursday, April 29th is our next bi-weekly Magic:The Gathering tournament. Registration is $5.00 and sign-ups are from 5-6pm with the tournament running 6-9pm. Prizes to be determined by the number of entrants.
Saturday, May 1st is FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!! Every year on the first Saturday in May comic shops across the country pass out SPECIAL EDITION comic books. FOR FREE!! And of course you can find your free books right here at Main Street Comics & Games. As a special treat our friends Sean Forney and Brian Borgman will be returning to appear from Noon until 2pm. But that's not all! From 2pm until who knows when, our friends from Studio Akumakaze will be here. Crazy back issue deals all day long up to 50% off, with any bagged back issue priced $4.00 or less reduced to ONE DOLLAR!!! DON'T MISS IT!!
You can maximize your Free Comics score by visiting our table at the Clark County Public Library (Downtown Branch) from 11am-1pm and at the shop from Noon until all the comics are gone. And get a preview the FCBD 2010 releases at Freecomicbookday.com. And the fun is just getting started. Friday, May 7th. Yeah! Late Show! Cinema 10! Iron Man 2!!! And the very next day, Saturday, May 8th, join us from 1pm-5pm for our very first book release party. Springfield's own(sort of) Andy McGinn will be here debuting his very first graphic novel The Legacy. The Legacy got picked up for distribution by both Diamond Comics, who rated it "Certified Cool", and Barnes & Noble. I had the priveledge of reading an advance copy and I loved it. If you've ever enjoyed a newspaper funny page, you HAVE GOT to check out The Legacy. Thursday, May 13th- Magic: The Gathering. Coming soon, the second coming...of Dave Arhar, but not really. Unfortunately, due to a blizzard Dave couldn't make it back in February, but he'll be here this summer. We do now have Dave's books in stock but they're going fast so come by and check out The Faustians, Gothic Romance or a special preview of Franklinstein. Also, look for Dustin Carson to return.('Cause he better) With the new release of No Gods now collected in an awesome trade paperback. And more. In June it's Free Comic Book Day redux with "Free Lambert Day". Our Very "first" special guest Chad Lambert returns with a new printing of Return to Point Pleasant and FREE FULL ISSUES of his creator owned titles, Possum at Large and The Revisionist.
