Grand Opening!

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Ok, we’re five weeks exactly from our target Grand Opening date of March 2, 2009 and here’s what’s been going on.

- Jan 1- Got the keys Main Street Comics & Games is born!



- Jan 2- Showcases get delivered.

- Jan 3- We moved in a couple of racks and the first tables.

- Jan 4- Came in to put up storage shelves and hear my footsteps start splashing. It’s raining indoors!! Grabbed the bucket and all of the trash cans, put up the shelves and cussed alot.

- Jan 5 - Jan 12- Called the landlord about the roof…waited patiently. Set up supplier accounts, placed first order with Diamond Comics, got our web site up two months earlier than planned(Thank you Amanda!^^)…waited patiently watching the ceiling fill up with water and start to fall down.



…waited patiently. Ordered the wood to build our comics book racks, started pricing my comic collection to start our back issues…waited patiently.



…waited patiently, wood never gets delivered, they LOST the order! Ordered the wood AGAIN! …waited less patiently.

- Jan 13 - The roof gets fixed!(sort of I’ll get to that in a minute) Pricing these comics is taking FOREVER, only one box done so far, but that’s ok my vacation starts in two days wooot!

- Jan 14 - The wood gets delivered!!

- Jan 15 - Last day before vacation takes forever to go by.

- Jan 16-17 - We bring in the tools to build the custom racks and shelves.



- Jan 18- We got started at around 10pm with this…

- Jan 19 - 20- Still pricing comics. Call in my brothers for help with building. (Thanks guys!)



…more progress!







- Jan 21- Last day of vacation. Pricing is almost done.



- Jan 22 - Back to work. Got warm and the snow melted, the roof is leaking again. (AAAArgh) Called the landlord…waits. Pricing is done.(Mostly ;p)

- Jan 23 - Called the Springfield News Sun and they are going to do an article on the shop, woooot!

- Jan 24 - Jan 26- Getting the 2nd Diamond order ready. Built more shelves this weekend. Someone needs to invent longer days.

- Jan 26- It’s raining indoors again. Grrr. Placed March’s order with Diamond today!(I hope you like what i got.) Coolade came back up to help with more shelves, and he suggested staining the wood cherry instead of paint. Hmmm. Well if you’re reading this you’ve seen the shelves. What do YOU think?
